Tips for Choosing Casters, Wheels & Replacement Parts
- Add up the loadDivide the total load (cart plus contents) by the number of casters, then add a safety margin.
- Match the floorSoft treads protect finished floors; hard treads roll easier under heavy loads on concrete.
- Swivel or rigid?A common setup is two swivel and two rigid casters for steering, or four swivels for tight spaces.
- Measure the mountCheck the top plate or stem size and bolt pattern before ordering replacements.
- Think about the environmentWet, outdoor, hot or chemical areas need treads and bearings that suit the conditions.
- Add brakes where neededFloor locks and wheel brakes keep carts and trucks from rolling while loading.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right caster?
Start with the load per caster, then the floor type and environment. Tell us the cart, load and floor and we will recommend a tread, size and mount.

Rubber and polyurethane treads are the best choices for protecting finished floors and running quietly.
What is the strongest wheel?
Cast iron, phenolic and polyurethane on cast iron wheels carry the heaviest loads. Cast iron is the hardest on floors.

Yes. We carry replacement platform truck handles, handle grips, appliance truck belts and bumpers, roller stair climbers and floor locks.
