Planning a Locker Room
- Count users, not lockersDouble, triple and box lockers multiply the openings in the same wall space. Count each shift if staff share a room.
- Check height and clearanceAllow for slope tops (+6") and bases (+4" recessed or 6" legs), and leave room for doors to swing open.
- Plan for cleaningSlope tops stop dust building up, and raised bases or wall hung lockers make it easy to clean the floor.
- Think about air flowPerforated doors and open gear lockers help wet clothing and equipment dry and reduce odours.
- Choose the lock earlyPadlock, built-in key, digital keypad or coin lock: decide before ordering so lockers arrive ready.
- Finish the roomAdd benches, number plates and base inserts. We can quote a complete package and install it.
Locker Questions
What size are standard steel lockers?
Each locker column is 12" wide, 18" deep and 72" high, sold in banks of 1, 2, 3 or 4 columns (12" to 48" wide). A slope top adds 6" and a recessed base adds 4", so a locker with both is 82" high.
Should I choose single, double or triple tier lockers?
Single-tier lockers give each person full-height hanging space for coats and work clothes. Double-tier lockers fit two people per column and suit shift workers and staff rooms. Triple-tier and 6-tier box lockers fit the most users in the least space, for bags, helmets, phones and small items.
Do the lockers come assembled?
Yes. Our single, double and triple tier steel lockers, box lockers, magnetic latch lockers and gear lockers ship assembled. Archettes ship in components for assembly on site. We can deliver and install lockers in the GTA and Southern Ontario.
What lock options are available?
Steel lockers have a recessed padlock handle as standard. Built-in key cylinder locks, digital keypad locks and coin-operated locks are available, and number plates come in sets of 25.
Which lockers are best for gyms, team rooms and fire halls?
Choose ventilated (perforated) lockers or open-front gear lockers so damp clothing and equipment can dry. Deluxe gear lockers add lockable doors, a wardrobe interior and an optional drawer for boots and gear bags.
