Tips for Planning Your Bin Storage

  • Measure shelf depth firstShelf bins are sized for common shelf depths of 12, 18 and 24 inches. Match the bin length to the shelf so nothing hangs over the edge.
  • Match bin height to the partShort 4 inch bins suit small, high-count parts. Taller 6 and 8 inch bins hold bulkier items and use more of the space between shelves.
  • Use colour to organizeAssign colours by product line, job, department or kit to speed up picking and cut mistakes.
  • Plan for labels and dividersLabel holders make every bin location easy to find, and dividers let one bin hold several part numbers.
  • Decide where the bins will liveShelving, louvered panels, bench racks, mobile racks and lockable cabinets suit different workspaces. Choose the bin and the holder together.
  • Size bulk containers for your forkliftCheck the footprint, height and entry sides of bulk containers against your racking, pallet trucks and forklifts so they move and stack safely.

Bin Storage FAQs

What sizes of shelf bins do you carry?

Plastic shelf bins come in lengths for 12, 18 and 24 inch deep shelving, in 4, 6 and 8 inch heights and several widths. Each product page lists every size with its JB part number.

What is the difference between shelf bins and hanging and stacking bins?

Shelf bins are long and narrow to fill the depth of a shelf. Hanging and stacking bins have an open hopper front and a rear hanger, so they can stack on a bench or hang from louvered panels and rails.

Can I mix bin sizes on a louvered panel or rack?

Yes. Hanging and stacking bins in different sizes hang on the same louvered panels, floor racks and bench racks, so small and large bins can share one system.

Do you offer anti-static bins for electronics?

Yes. ESD anti-static hanging and stacking bins help protect sensitive electronic parts in assembly and repair areas.

Can you supply a complete bin storage system?

Yes. We can quote bins, dividers, labels, shelving, louvered racks or cabinets as one package and help plan the layout. Delivery and installation are available in the GTA and Southern Ontario, and we ship across Canada.
